FAQs
Chalet Idyll
Welcome to a pleasant chalet experience in the mountains. Here, over 1000 meters above sea level, a unique environment awaits—one that is entirely different from life in the city. The nature surrounds the chalet with calm, silence, and spectacular views. It is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the best of the Norwegian mountain landscape.
To make the most of your stay, we recommend packing a few extra items that will enhance your comfort. We place great emphasis on maintaining a good indoor climate in our chalets, and therefore, we have a few simple rules to preserve this. We kindly ask that outdoor shoes and high-heeled shoes or soles that may leave black marks are not worn indoors. Many of our floors are covered with carpets or consist of genuine wooden floors, which we wish to take good care of.
We recommend bringing woolen socks, indoor shoes, or slippers for a comfortable experience. After a day outside in the fresh mountain air, there’s nothing quite like the feeling of padding around in warm socks or cozy indoor shoes.
Being in the mountains offers a completely different experience compared to living in the city. Here, the air is often fresher, and temperatures can be lower, but it also provides an opportunity to enjoy nature’s elements at their finest. From starry nights to crystal-clear air and the sound of crunching snow. Bring a good wool sweater and maybe a blanket to enjoy the view with a cup of cocoa, either outside or from inside the window.
We warmly welcome you, and we are sure the chalet will provide you with memorable days filled with tranquility and closeness to nature.
Remember, we are here to make your stay as comfortable and special as possible.

Heating and Wood Burning
Idyll is an older, traditional log cabin offering an authentic cabin experience. The cabin is equipped with modern conveniences, such as underfloor heating in the bathroom and entrance area, and panel heaters in the bedrooms for added comfort.
The main heat source in the cabin is a large fireplace/stove on the first floor. Unlimited dry firewood is included in your stay and can be freely used in the fireplace.
Please Note: When using the fireplace with an open fire, the protective grate next to the fireplace must always be in place. This is crucial for safety. We recommend using the fireplace with closed doors, as this provides much better heat efficiency.
Only dry wood should be burned in the fireplace/stove. Do not burn trash, paper, plastic, or other waste, as this can lead to chimney fires and damage the stove.
Outdoor Wood Shed
There is a generous supply of dry birch firewood in the outdoor wood shed, located next to the cabin near the parking area. We recommend making a good fire in the winter, and in the evening, you can add some large logs before bedtime to keep the cabin warm overnight. In the morning, it’s easy to add more wood to restore the heat.
How to open the wood shed:
Grab the top board of the section you wish to open.
Lift the board straight up and set it aside.
Repeat with 5-7 more boards until you have good access to the wood.
When finished, be sure to put the boards back in place to protect the wood.
Wood Rack Inside the Cabin
Next to the fireplace, you’ll find a large, spacious wood rack. We use a simple system to ensure the wood is always dry and ready for use:
When you arrive, all three racks are filled with dry wood.
After using the wood from one rack, replenish it from the outdoor wood shed.
When the next rack is used, refill it as well, ensuring the wood in the first rack has time to dry completely.
Always keep all racks full, so there’s always dry wood available.
This system ensures efficient circulation of the wood, so you get the best heat from the fireplace.
Wood that has been at room temperature for a day or two burns better and provides more heat.
Please remember to leave the racks full when you depart, so there is always dry, ready-to-use firewood for the next guests.
TV and Sound System
All the TVs are equipped with Chromecast. In the living rooms, you can use the Chromecast remote control.
For the other TVs, you can use your mobile device’s Cast function to stream content.
There is a Bluetooth speaker in the dining room for your enjoyment.
All our chalets are well-equipped.
In the kitchen, there is a small basic stock of salt, pepper, various spices, flour, sugar, some tea, coffee filters, etc., which you are welcome to use. If anything runs out, we would appreciate it if you replace what has been used.
There are also dishwasher tablets and dish soap (Zalo) available.
If you are staying longer than a weekend, we recommend bringing extras.
Toilet paper is provided in the bathrooms, but if there are many guests, we recommend purchasing extra.
All bathrooms are also equipped with hand soap.
All beds come with pillows and duvets.
Remember to bring your own bed linen and towels if you have not chosen to rent them.

Christmas Celebration at Idyll
Christmas celebrations at Chalet Idyll are very popular, and we want to ensure you have the best possible experience. To help with this, we provide a Christmas tree stand, lights for the tree, and a few decorations. During your stay, you can cut your own Christmas tree on our property, Fjellskue, located near Chalet Panorama 1474.
When you leave, please place the tree behind the annex next to the chalet. The lights and decorations should be neatly packed back into the bag, so they are ready for those celebrating after you.
New Year’s Celebration
If you wish to celebrate New Year at the chalet, it is the perfect place for such an occasion. If you'd like to buy your own fireworks, you can find the store near Nærbutikken Uvdal – look for the signs. Please remember to clean up any used fireworks before you leave.
Outdoor Area
We kindly ask that the outdoor area be kept tidy and neat, so that those arriving after you can enjoy the same beautiful and well-maintained environment.
We welcome all dogs. It’s a great area for dogs. Just remember to follow the local leash laws and be considerate of other animals in the area.
Please remember to use a bag for waste, just like you would at home. Be mindful that there are children playing in the area and many people passing by where you walk with your dog.
We greatly appreciate your respect in ensuring that dogs are not allowed on sofas or beds in any of our chalets. They should not be lying on their own blanket on the sofa or bed either. Dogs should only be on the floor.
It’s important to be considerate of the next renter, and we want our chalets to be well taken care of today and in the future.
The municipality has its own chalet waste collection service.
There are designated waste disposal points where you can drop off sorted waste. REMEMBER that all waste must now be sorted, just like at home.

The point is located at FV40 at the entrance to Lomlia. This point serves the northern part of Dagalifjell and is easily accessible when heading north towards Geilo.
Snow plowing is provided to ensure safe access to the chalets during winter. The roads and driveways leading to the property are cleared regularly, but it is important to be aware that heavy snowfall can sometimes cause delays in plowing. Please ensure your vehicle is parked in designated areas to avoid obstruction during snow removal.
If there are specific issues related to snow plowing, please contact for assistance.
If there is heavy snowfall, please contact us in advance. During heavy snowfalls, it may take some time before the road is plowed.
When there is strong wind, snow can accumulate in two spots on the road. The rest of the road is usually passable.
Often, the easiest solution is to bring a snow shovel and clear the snow yourself rather than waiting for plowing.
This way, you'll also get some exercise and fresh air.
Smoking is not allowed inside any of our chalets. Please smoke outside and be mindful of others, especially children who may be in the area. Dispose of cigarette butts properly in designated bins to keep the environment clean and safe.
We appreciate your cooperation in maintaining a pleasant and smoke-free indoor environment for all guests.
Our chalets are completely smoke-free. Smoking has not been allowed inside the chalet, and we wish to continue this practice.
Please use an appropriate ashtray and be sure not to throw cigarette butts or snus pouches on the ground. Even though there may be snow, cigarette butts will not disappear. Please respect that other families will be arriving after you.
Unfortunately, we’ve had some cases of this, and it’s unpleasant to have to pay for its removal.
