Kronvollen
Welcome to a Experience in the Mountains
High above, over 1000 meters above sea level, awaits a unique environment far removed from the hustle and bustle of city life. Surrounded by nature's tranquility, silence, and breathtaking views, our chalet offers the perfect retreat to unwind and immerse yourself in the best of Norway's mountain landscape.
To make the most of your stay, we recommend packing a few extra items to enhance your comfort. We prioritize a healthy indoor climate in our chalets and have a few simple guidelines to help maintain this. Please avoid wearing outdoor shoes or dress shoes with high heels or soles that could leave black marks indoors. Many of our floors are carpeted or made of genuine wood, and we want to keep them in pristine condition.
We suggest bringing wool socks, indoor slippers, or cozy footwear for a truly comfortable experience. After a day spent in the fresh mountain air, there’s nothing quite like walking around in warm socks or soft slippers.
Mountain living offers a completely different experience compared to city life. The weather here is often brisk, and the temperatures can be lower, but it also gives you a chance to embrace nature’s elements at their finest. From starry nights to crystal-clear air and sparkling snow, the mountain atmosphere is simply magical. Be sure to pack a warm wool sweater and perhaps a blanket so you can enjoy the view with a cup of hot cocoa, whether outdoors or through the window.
Please note that the glass door in the kitchen/living/dining area on the ground floor is closed for the winter due to the risk of roof avalanches and falling icicles. For your safety, we kindly ask that this is respected.
We warmly welcome you, and we are confident that the chalet will provide you with unforgettable days filled with peace and a close connection to nature. For a bit of fun, you’ll find sleds available in the hallway—perfect for some snowy playtime for all ages. Prepare yourself for a truly magical and unique experience.
Remember, we’re here to make your stay as comfortable and special as possible!

The Jacuzzi – For Ultimate Relaxation and Comfort
Few things compare to sinking into the Jacuzzi and enjoying its warmth after an active day. To ensure the Jacuzzi provides the best experience for you and other guests, it’s important to follow a few simple guidelines. This helps prevent issues like dirty water, bacteria growth, or technical damage, which could require the Jacuzzi to be shut down. Cleaning and refilling the water takes at least two days and is a significant effort, which will be charged to the tenant if the guidelines are not followed.
Here are some essential points for safe and proper Jacuzzi use:
Preparations Before Use
- Clear Snow: Remove snow in front of the Jacuzzi door and around the area, especially where the lid lifter slides. Shovels are available on the left side of the parking lot, where the windbreak begins. Please return the shovels after use to prevent them from being blown away.
- Clean the Lid: Clear snow and any stones from the top of the Jacuzzi lid.
- Remove the Tarp: Pull the blue tarp toward the wall before opening the lid using the lid lifter.
Lid Handling: The lid is split into two sections and is opened using the lid lifter.
We recommend having one person on each side to lift the lid together.
Before Using the Jacuzzi
- Turn on the Light: Activate the light via the display.
- Check the Temperature: Ensure it’s set correctly (recommended: 37–38°C).
- Remove the Chlorine Dispenser: Place it safely outdoors.
- Check the Water Level: The water must always cover the jets. If the level is low, contact us immediately.Frequent use may lower the water level. If the water drops below the top jets, you must contact us right away to prevent damage to the Jacuzzi and circulation system, which could lead to costly repairs.
Hygiene and Preparation for Bathers
- Shower Requirement: Everyone must shower thoroughly with soap (without swimwear) before using the Jacuzzi. Be sure to rinse off all soap completely to avoid cloudy water.
- Swimwear Only: Only swimwear is allowed in the Jacuzzi. Cotton boxers and similar fabrics pollute the water and may cause discoloration.
- Prohibited Products: Do not use oils, bath bombs, or soaps in the Jacuzzi, as they harm water quality and may require a costly water replacement, which will be charged to the tenant.
During Use
- Use Non-Breakable Items: Only use plastic glasses, available in the chalet, around the Jacuzzi.
- No Glass Allowed: Bottles, glasses, or mugs are strictly prohibited. Broken glass in the water requires draining and cleaning, which will be charged to the tenant.
- Short Sessions: Limit your time in the Jacuzzi, especially in cold weather. Wear a hat or similar to minimize heat loss.
- Supervise Children: Children must never use the Jacuzzi without supervision. The tenant is responsible for safety during the rental period.
After Using the Jacuzzi
- Add Chlorine: Add 1 plastic scoop (never metal) of chlorine after each use. For heavy use, add 1–2 scoops.
- Maintain proper chlorine levels to prevent bacteria growth, which could lead to the Jacuzzi being closed for cleaning, at the tenant's expense.
- Replace the Chlorine Dispenser: Put it back in the Jacuzzi after use.
- Secure the Lid: Ensure the lid is tightly closed and covered with the blue tarp to prevent heat loss.
- In windy conditions, place heavy stones back on the lid for extra security.
- Dry the Floor: Wipe up any water around the Jacuzzi to prevent slippery surfaces.
Additional Notes on Temperature and Safety
- Maximum Temperature: Do not exceed 38°C. Avoid using the Jacuzzi at 40°C, as it can lead to overheating, dizziness, nausea, headaches, or even heat stroke.
Important: Water Level
The water level must always cover the jets. If it drops, contact us immediately to avoid damage to the system, which will be charged to the tenant.
Check Before Departure
- During peak season, the Jacuzzi will be inspected 36 hours before departure.
- If the water is cloudy or contaminated, requiring cleaning or refilling, this will be charged to the tenant, and the Jacuzzi will be closed to prepare for the next guests.
Questions or Issues?
If anything is unclear or if you encounter problems, please contact us. It’s always better to ask than risk improper use.
Now it’s time to enjoy the outdoor Jacuzzi! Have fun and relax in the warm, bubbling water, surrounded by stunning scenery. By following these safety guidelines and recommendations, you’ll ensure a delightful and safe experience.

Guide for Using the Sauna Stove
The sauna at Kronvollen heats up quickly and is easy to use.
It's always a good idea to read the manual before you are freshly showered and ready to take a sauna bath. The on/off switch is located together with the thermostat at the front of the stove. The stove is equipped with a timer, so you can't forget to turn it off.
Most people can use the sauna. Small children, people with wounds or heart problems should avoid the sauna. For others, common sense goes a long way.
How to Use the Sauna
The most common mistake is trying to make the sauna as hot as possible. Often, we Norwegians use saunas at 80-90 degrees with 10 percent humidity. You won’t last long in that heat. A temperature of 65 degrees with 35 percent humidity is much more comfortable, and you can enjoy the experience much longer. If you add water to the stones, take it easy. The water needs time to evaporate from the stones and should not run through the stove.
Relax and Enjoy Life
Saunas are a place where you should take it easy. In other words, the sauna is a place for both mental and physical cleansing. The sauna should be comfortable to sit in—if it's not, it’s either too hot, too humid, or not humid enough. Experiment to find what you enjoy most.
Chromecast Guide for Kronvollen Chalet
Chromecast is an easy and convenient way to stream content from your mobile, tablet, or computer directly to the TV.
Instead of traditional TV signals, the Kronvollen Chalet uses Google TV and Chromecast to give you access to your favorite series, movies, music, and other content.
How does Chromecast work?
All the TVs in the chalet are equipped with Chromecast, and there are a total of 5 TVs available. To use Chromecast, you need a compatible mobile device or tablet (such as an iPhone, Android device, or iPad) with a streaming service installed, like YouTube, Netflix, or Spotify.
How to use Chromecast
- Connect to the chalet’s Wi-Fi network so your mobile/tablet and the Chromecast device can communicate.
- Open the desired app on your mobile or tablet.
- Look for the "Casting" icon (a small screen with a Wi-Fi symbol in the corner).
- Tap the cast icon, select the TV in the room where you are, and the content will appear on the TV.
Important information for using the TVs at the chalet
- In the living rooms, you’ll find a white Chromecast remote control. These remotes are programmed to the TV in the room where they are located and should not be moved to other floors.
- The chalet uses only Chromecast, so there are no traditional TV signals. All content must be streamed from your own devices.
With this setup, you can easily watch whatever you want, whenever it suits you, and enjoy a modern TV experience.

To play music or listen to the radio, simply connect to the stereo system located under the stairs.
There is a Bluetooth adapter connected to the Stereo.
Press the "connect" button on the adapter to activate Bluetooth. Then, search for new Bluetooth devices on your phone.
Select "connect." Once connected, you can use apps like NRK, Spotify, etc.
Note: Please do not change the settings or move the amplifier. Doing so can create a lot of issues, and we may need extra time (which we don't have) to reinstall it.
Kronvollen is very well suited for gatherings and celebrations.
We have plates, side plates, cutlery, small bowls, large bowls, drinking glasses, red wine glasses, white wine glasses, and most things you’ll need to host a successful event for everyone.
There is plenty of space around the long table, and if it’s not big enough, there are extension leaves for the table. If you wish to bring your own tablecloth, the long table is 95 cm wide and 420 cm long. It can be extended to 520 cm.
The kitchen is well-equipped with 2 refrigerators, 2 dishwashers, and an oven.
There is also a coffee maker and kettle.
Celebrating Christmas in the chalet is very popular. We want you to have the best experience, so we provide a Christmas tree stand, tree lights, and some Christmas ornaments.
When celebrating Christmas in our chalets, you can cut your own Christmas tree on our property, Fjellskue (near the Fjellskue Panorama chalet). Upon departure, please place the tree outside behind the annex next to the Kronvollen chalet. The lights and ornaments should be neatly placed back in the IKEA bag so that everything is ready for the next group celebrating Christmas.
If you want to celebrate New Year's at the Kronvollen chalet, it’s a perfect place for it. If you wish to buy your own fireworks, you will see signs to the shop by the Nærbutikken in Uvdal. Please remember to clean up the used fireworks before you leave. The outdoor area should be neat and tidy for those arriving after you. Please show respect.
We welcome all dogs. It’s a great area for dogs. Just remember to follow the local leash laws and be considerate of other animals in the area.
Please remember to use a bag for waste, just like you would at home. Be mindful that there are children playing in the area and many people passing by where you walk with your dog.
We greatly appreciate your respect in ensuring that dogs are not allowed on sofas or beds in any of our chalets. They should not be lying on their own blanket on the sofa or bed either. Dogs should only be on the floor.
It’s important to be considerate of the next renter, and we want our chalets to be well taken care of today and in the future.
The municipality has its own chalet waste collection service.
There are designated waste disposal points where you can drop off sorted waste. REMEMBER that all waste must now be sorted, just like at home.
IF YOU'RE DRIVING TOWARDS OSLO - NØRSTEBØLIA
The point is located at FV40 at the entrance to Nørstebølia, 350 meters north of the exit to Høk. This point serves Høk, Vasstulan, Nørstebølia, and the southern part of Dagalifjell.
IF YOU'RE DRIVING TOWARDS GEILO / BERGEN - LOMLIA
The point is located at FV40 at the entrance to Lomlia. This point serves the northern part of Dagalifjell and is easily accessible when heading north towards Geilo.
Snow plowing is provided to ensure safe access to the chalets during winter. The roads and driveways leading to the property are cleared regularly, but it is important to be aware that heavy snowfall can sometimes cause delays in plowing. Please ensure your vehicle is parked in designated areas to avoid obstruction during snow removal.
If there are specific issues related to snow plowing, please contact for assistance.
If there is heavy snowfall, please contact us in advance. During heavy snowfalls, it may take some time before the road is plowed.
When there is strong wind, snow can accumulate in two spots on the road. The rest of the road is usually passable.
Often, the easiest solution is to bring a snow shovel and clear the snow yourself rather than waiting for plowing.
This way, you'll also get some exercise and fresh air.
Smoking is not allowed inside any of our chalets. Please smoke outside and be mindful of others, especially children who may be in the area. Dispose of cigarette butts properly in designated bins to keep the environment clean and safe.
We appreciate your cooperation in maintaining a pleasant and smoke-free indoor environment for all guests.
Our chalets are completely smoke-free. Smoking has not been allowed inside the chalet, and we wish to continue this practice.
Please use an appropriate ashtray and be sure not to throw cigarette butts or snus pouches on the ground. Even though there may be snow, cigarette butts will not disappear. Please respect that other families will be arriving after you.
Unfortunately, we’ve had some cases of this, and it’s unpleasant to have to pay for its removal.
Kronvollen chalet is well-insulated and has multiple heating sources to ensure a comfortable stay.
- A top-model heat pump is installed on the first floor, and a wood stove is used for heating on the ground floor.
- In addition, there are panel heaters where necessary, and a movable extra heater is placed in the third-floor bedroom.
If it's cold outside, which can happen in the mountains, the best heat source is the wood stove on the ground floor. Start the fire gently. Once the stove is warm, you can add more wood. This will ensure the heat is distributed throughout the chalet.
A supply of firewood is included in the rental agreement, depending on the season and duration of the stay. Additional wood can be purchased or ordered from Nærbutikken Uvdal – Tel: 32743604.
Please note that Kronvollen is a large chalet, and it may take some time for the entire chalet to warm up.
Although there is underfloor heating in the main floor and first floor, we recommend wearing wool socks and slippers for extra comfort.
-
Standard checkout time is 11:00 AM.
If no one is arriving after you, a later checkout is possible. Please arrange this with us in advance so the cleaning team is informed. -

Glass and metal should be disposed of at Nærbutikken Uvdal. -
